Wiggly Pichi: A Playful Font for Engaging Campaigns

It was 3 p.m. on a Friday, and I was finalizing the visuals for a seasonal sale campaign. The client wanted something fun, approachable, and visually cohesive across social media and digital ads. That’s when I landed on Wiggly Pichi, a handwritten font from Script Amp that immediately brought a sense of warmth and authenticity to the project.

A Font with Personality

Wiggly Pichi is not your typical display font. It has a childlike charm with uneven strokes and playful curves that mimic real handwriting. This gives it a unique personality—perfect for brands aiming to feel personal, relatable, and slightly whimsical. Its authentic look makes it ideal for chalkboard quotes, teaching materials, or any design where a handcrafted feel is desired.

What stood out during my test run was how well it balanced playfulness with readability. Even though it's a script font, its structure still allows for clear communication, especially in short headlines and callouts. I used it for a “Back to School” sale announcement, and it added just the right amount of energy without overwhelming the message.

Real Campaign Applications

I tested Wiggly Pichi across multiple platforms, including Instagram posts, YouTube thumbnails, and digital ad banners. On Instagram, I paired it with a clean sans serif font for body text, which helped maintain visual hierarchy. The contrast between the two fonts made the key message pop while keeping the supporting copy easy to read.

For YouTube thumbnails, I used Wiggly Pichi as the main title text. Since thumbnails are often viewed at small sizes, I made sure the font size was large enough to remain legible on mobile screens. The result? Higher click-through rates compared to previous campaigns using more formal typefaces.

In digital ads, I experimented with using Wiggly Pichi on dark backgrounds. While it worked well, I noticed that some of the lighter strokes became less visible. To counter this, I applied a subtle stroke effect to enhance contrast without compromising the font’s natural look.

Readability and Visual Hierarchy

One thing I learned quickly was that Wiggly Pichi works best for short, punchy messages. It’s not suited for long paragraphs or dense information blocks. However, when used strategically for headlines, taglines, or promotional labels, it adds a memorable touch that aligns with brand personality.

I found that pairing it with a modern sans serif like Helvetica Neue or Montserrat created a balanced aesthetic. The contrast between the two fonts helped guide the viewer’s eye through the content, improving message clarity and engagement.

When designing for fast-scrolling feeds like Instagram or Pinterest, I made sure to keep the text large and centered. This ensured that even if users only saw a quick preview, they could still grasp the core message.

Limitations and Best Practices

While Wiggly Pichi is a great asset for creative campaigns, it’s important to recognize its limitations. It may not be suitable for formal corporate communications or situations requiring high readability in tiny text sizes. For these cases, sticking to a clean, professional font is better.

Before integrating Wiggly Pichi into any campaign, I recommend checking the included styles, alternates, and ligatures. These features can add depth to your designs and help avoid repetitive or inconsistent typography. Also, ensure that you have the appropriate commercial license for your use case—whether it’s for digital ads, merchandise, or branded templates.

Finally, consider testing Wiggly Pichi across different backgrounds and screen sizes to ensure it maintains its visual appeal and readability. A quick A/B test with a more traditional font can also help determine which one resonates better with your target audience.
